Washington Beer Blog Announces Craft Beer+Food, Seattle’s Newest Beer and Food Event

Perfectly timed with Beer West’s Fall Food Issue, we’re stoked to hear about this fine food and beer pairing event taking place on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Yacht Club on Lake Union.

Here’s more info on the event (from a press release from co-producers of the event, Washington Beer Blog):

Craft Beer+Food celebrates the pairing of Seattle’s world class food and world class beer with an event demonstrating how locally brewed craft beers can be part of an elegant dining experience. Craft Beer+Food introduces food lovers to good beer, beer lovers to good food. The event will take place on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Yacht Club on Lake Union, and will benefit the Just Garden Project.

Ten upscale Seattle area restaurants, including Tom Douglas’ Brave Horse Tavern, Ravish on Eastlake, Ray’s Boathouse, and Quinn’s Pub, will be paired with ten Seattle area craft breweries. The Chef and the Brewmaster will collaborate to develop a beer+food pairing. Each Chef+Brewmaster team will present its pairing—a taste of food with a sample of beer—to demonstrate how well great beer can accompany fine food.

“Foodies and beer lovers share many of the same sensibilities,” says Kendall Jones, Director of the Washington Beer Blog. “Seattle has long been recognized as a hotbed for both craft beer and fine cuisine. It’s not news to chefs and brewers, but more and more people are beginning to recognize that fine beer and fine food can be thoughtfully paired to create a fantastic dining experience.

“The concept behind Craft Beer+Food is simple: bring local chefs and brewers together and let them do the rest,” Jones says. “We want to prove that fine food does not necessarily need to be paired with wine. Beer can elevate the dining experience in the same way.”

Two-hundred attendees will sample all ten beer+food pairings. Tickets are $30 per person in advance, available in early August through Brown Paper Tickets via the event website, CraftBeerPlusFood.com.
